Pretty and light skinned actress Lilian Esoro is no new name in the entertainment industry, as her remarkable role in the popular sitcom Clinic Matters shot her to limelight few years ago.However,the talented actress who stands at a 6ft tall height which she admits is one of her best assets has become more popular on the social media, following her celebrated proposal and eventual engagement to showbiz impresario Ubi Franklin, who is music star Nyanja’s manager and the owner of Made Men record label. Although their romance raised a lot of controversy shortly after it was made public, the duo however took all by surprise when they held a low-key introduction at the bride’s home few weeks back, amidst widely circulated rumours that they had parted ways. In this interview with City People Head of Movie Desk, the ex beauty queen who was nominated for the Most Promising actress category at the just concluded City people Entertainment Awards revealed the qualities that attracted her to her husband, how she started acting among others.
How did you get into acting?
I got into acting through a friend, way back in 2005. When he wanted to start off his sitcom, and insisted that I played the role.
What was the inspiration?
There was no inspiration what so ever. Because it wasn’t something I wanted to do at all.
How long have you been acting?
Officially I started in 2010. So I will say 5years ago.
How has the journey been so far?
It’s been a blessing. Couldn’t have asked for a better career.

How did you get your first role in a movie?
It was actually via phone call. They called me that they say my work and would like to work with me. And that was it.
Which movie would you say brought you recognition?
For Tv ill say Clinic Matters and future film ill say Secret Room.
What are some of the challenges you have encountered as an actor?
There hasn’t been any major challenge so far. Except the fact that my freedom has been caged. Apart from that it’s been superb.
Why did you choose acting rather than any other profession?
I’ll say acting choose me. And I humbly accepted the offer.
What else do you do apart from acting?
Apart from acting n my other event planning job. I serve God shamelessly with everything I’ve.
How financially rewarding has acting been for you?
It has been good. But not mind blowing.. it sure takes care of certain bills I must say. Don’t forget art can never be paid for. It’s priceless. The pleasure I derive in being someone else by playing pretence is priceless.
Who are some of your favourite Nollywood acts?
Nollywood is blessed with tons of talented peeps. The list is endless. But ill mention a few. Mike Ezuronye, He brings any character to life Rita Dominic, a selfless act that makes acting look solo easy n believable. Linda Ejiofor super amazing talent, Adesua Etomi talented and quite deep, Mercy Johnson, Blossom Chukwujekwu amazing talent, Binbo Akintola. She is out of this world. Okey Uzoeshi brilliant actor, Seun Ajayi he is the Wesley Snipes of my your time. The list is long biko.
What kind of role appeals to you most and which has been most challenging?
Any psychotic role. Something away from the norm. Every job has been challenging it’s hard to choose.
What’s your educational background?
I went to Home Science Association for my primary education, Government Girls College for my college education, University of Abuja where I studied Political Science. What was growing up like for you?
Well. Growing up for me was fun and quite at the same time. Cos my dad was really strict with us. As a military man we were not allowed to have any friends, we were turned into introverts not by choice. But it became a lifestyle which helped out a lot with being grounded, and it also made the bond between my siblings and I really strong. It’s funny how We are all grateful to our parents for the way we were brought up. Because back then we thought they were being mean to us. Little did we know we were being prepared for what’s ahead.
What do you love most about yourself?
My Height. Hahhahhaha
What do you love doing when you are not acting?
I love spending time with my family, friends and loved ones.
How does your partner feel about your profession ?
I am in a happy place.
Have you ever been a victim of sexual harassment in the industry?
na never been.
What has been your most embarrassing moment as an actor?
The day my wig fell off while in line trying to get a ticket to see a movie.
What do you enjoy most about being an entertainer?
what I enjoy most is the smile I see on people’s faces. The fact that they watch me and smile about it. Sometimes they go as far as reciting my lines back to me. The feeling is priceless. The fact that my face makes them smile for doing nothing, that is by doing what I love to do. The positive energy I get from fans all over the world is what I enjoy the most.
What were the qualities that attracted you to your partner?
He is God fearing, and clean. Cleanliness is next to Godliness. He also has the right dress sense and smells good. Hahahha
Among all the stars you have acted with, who did you enjoy working with the most and why?
Emmm wow that’s hard. Cos I totally enjoyed working with them all. Let me see…… I’ll say Adesuwa Etomi. She had the right energy and we bounced of each other with ease.
Do you have role models in Nollywood and who are they?
Role model hmmmm I will say Aunty Ajoke Silver. She is everything worth emulating.
Have you ever been nominated for other awards ?
Yes I have.
How do you feel about your City people entertainment award nomination?
